Mrs Jan Procter-King

Mrs Jan Procter-King

Jan Procter King is currently a Primary Care CHD Specialist Nurse working for a Leeds PCG, and a lead tutor for the Management of Coronary Heart Disease in Primary Care Course. She is also a member of the British Heart Foundations Secondary Prevention Board and a freelance facilitator.

Her career started at St. James's Hospital in Leeds where she undertook general and midwifery training, then through to practice nursing in an inner city Leeds practice. A change in direction led into audit facilitation at Bradford Family Health Service Authority and as a result of the massive needs of the Bradford population this role almost seamlessly became diabetes and CHD focused. This focus allowed for academic study into quality in diabetes services in primary care which supported the implementation of the district diabetes register.

The development of the local primary care teams to meet the diabetes and CHD health care requirements for the population created an educational role for Jan and this has grown over the past few years and she continues to heads up a small team delivering CHD primary care education around the country.
